Okay, so now I’m really starting to get excited.

I can’t believe she’ll be here in approximately 13 hours! Even if we do get hopelessly lost and never make it to Chicago, this trip is going to kick much ass.

I just spent the last hour or two working on a couple of VCDs that she wants to watch with a friend of hers at the con. I just hope they don’t mind the few special extras I added. *evil laugh*

I really do have to learn more about VCD and DVD creation. I just used the limited tools that Nero provides, but it was still kinda fun. I usually just burn video files to disk in the format in which I acquired them (usually mpg) since I watch most of them at my PC anyway. My TV and DVD player aren’t the best quality, so things normally look better on my monitor.

Blogging and it’s relation to small talk.

I have a theory that the type of people who only post to their blog when they have something more than a one or two line comment are the same type of people that dislike the ritual of mindless small talk whenever they meet someone face to face. If you don’t have anything interesting to say, you needn’t fear silence.

Eh, maybe not.

Chicago by Car

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2003

In just a few days my visiting TriniBabe and I will be off on our way to Chicago for ScaperCon 2003! She’s a big fan of Farscape (may it rest in peace) and so she’s flying into Miami and then we are renting a car and driving up to Chicago for 3 days of madness with our fellow Scaper friends.

I myself got into the show a bit late. Only started watching at the beginning of the fourth season. She kept trying to get me into the show, but I was stubborn as usual. Luckily, she finally convinced me (after numerous threats to do me bodily harm) and I quickly became a fan. Of course the show was canceled at the end of that season… Bastards!

Scapers are about the wackiest fans I’ve ever come across. Though, I guess that’s to be expected since the show was itself pretty insane. At first, I must admit, I was a little freaked out by the thought of being surrounded by a whole con’s worth of Scapers, but I guess now they’ve infected me and I’m starting to exhibit similar traits (help me!).

This is the first time I’ve ever driven so far by myself and I am seriously hoping I don’t get lost or kidnapped by cultists or whatever. My friend is not yet of age to legally drive a rental so she will be acting as navigator. She claims that she couldn’t read a map or decipher directions if her live depended on it, but I’m sure she’s just exaggerating. *gulp*
